My Secret for Making Instagram Reels

Want to know a secret?

I know it takes time out of your day to create content for your social media. So something I hear a lot is, “I know Instagram favors reels, but I don’t have time to create them.”

I get it because I don’t have the time either. At least not during the week.

But what I have begun doing is when I’m not going anywhere on a Saturday evening, I get dressed, put on makeup, and make reels!

What???

Yep, I make my reels on Saturday nights when I have enough time and energy to do so and look cute while doing it.

Now, if you have an active social life, this tip may not be for you. But for those of us who are serious about growing our following to influencer status, you know creating reels is just as important as creating challenges or going live on your social media accounts.

If you hadn’t noticed, reels are so high up on Instagram’s list that now all video posts shorter than 15 minutes are viewed as reels.

Hootsuite Says….

And one way to get your reels placed within the algorithm and seen is by making them visually attractive, according to Hootsuite.

So this is why I suggest getting dressed and putting on makeup. Now I do not put on makeup all the time, but when I think of the potential reach a reel has, I know I must do a lil something, something.

Another Tip

I usually pick out two outfits or two shirts and do a wardrobe change because I worry that people may skip a reel, thinking it’s the same one if they see me in the same outfit too many times.

Hootsuite also says that Instagram says they have real humans who sift through these mini- videos to find the best ones to share, and we know how visual humans are.

Also, be sure your lighting is bright. Since I record my reels at night, it’s important that you have a ring light or some type of bright light to use.

Once I record my video, whether I use my iPhone camera or the Instagram app determines what I do next. If I record with my phone’s camera, then I just leave it there until I’m ready to use it. If I use Instagram, then I may go on and add text on my videos and then save them as drafts.

So if you say you don’t have time to make reels, it’s because you are not making the time to do so. If you’re sitting at home on a Saturday night, sis, you have time.
